"Titles created from some of the best training exercises in dog training"
Service Dogs of America is proud to introduce six of the best protection titles in dog training. They are: Protection Alert; Protection 1, 2 and 3; Police Dog1 and 2. These titles were created by combining and modifying some of the best and most popular dog training exercises from Schutzhund, Ring Sport, Police, and Personal Protection.
The P-2 and P-3 bridge the gap between Schutzhund and police dog training.
All of the essential training exercises needed for developing a well-rounded obedient and protection-trained dog are included in these titles. Every exercise required was selected based on its criteria of being useful, practical, fun to train, necessary for testing, its entertainment value to watch and identifying breeding stock.
The following will provide details about these titles and why we feel they will be beneficial and appealing to most all dog trainers.
The whole series of UKC/SDA protection titles
bridge the gap between Schutzhund and Police Dog Training.
The UKC/SDA- Protection Dog titles do not require
tracking. Now dog trainers in America will have protection titles
without the requirement of tracking. We believe separating tracking will be
very appealing to most trainers. Tracking will be offered separate and the
type of tracking SDA will offer will be more related to Police and Search &
Rescue type tracking than Schutzhund.
Protection exercises will be conducted with helpers
using a body-suit jacket and optional pants. The body-suit jacket results in
a more realistic scenario, closing the gap between schutzhund and police
training. SDA developed a body-suit jacket especially designed to be
lightweight. This suit is padded heavily in the gripping areas and minimum
protection in the non-gripping areas.
The routines are similar to Schutzhund II & III. Dogs
and handlers from Schutzhund will be familiar with training the majority of
the exercises. The UKC/SDA P-2 & P-3 are excellent additional titles for
Schutzhund trained dogs to accomplish. Dogs trained for this program can
compete in Schutzhund if you add tracking.
Obedience Routines are designed to be fast pace,
useful, fun, and loaded with training exercises that benefit all trainers,
exercises include:
Heeling off leash
Sit out motion
Down & recall
One flat retrieve
Brush Jump Retrieve
Incline Wall Retrieve
Send Out.
Reporting to the Judge
Long Down
