A week in the life at Camelot |
|
This page is going to be a weekly update on what is happening at Camelot, with our German shepherds, our breeding program, our German shepherd puppies, funny stories about what it is like living with 14 German shepherds and 4 Belgian Malinois. Of course we are the Tennessee version of Camelot as we are located in Chattanooga, So, beware you may here our southern drawl come to light in some of our stories. We will try to entertain you with stories of our German Shepherds here at Camelot as well as our puppies that are located in many other states, such as Texas, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alaska, Boston, Michigan and Flordia just to name a few. We will let you know where our German shepherd puppies are going, and what they will be doing on their new adventures. Information on who is in protection or obedience training and what they are working toward and how they are doing. Some pictures will be included or links to pictures of training. We hope to make this a fun and informative page for your enjoyment. February 14, 2012, Happy Valentines day from all of our Germans Shepherds adults and German Shepherd Puppies and our Belgian Malinois crew as well. We hope you have a very special day with your loved ones and furry children. It has been a busy two weeks, with a litter of German Shepherd puppies on the ground and a litter of Belgian Malinois on the ground, I am a busy lady, but I love my job and I love my fur babies. Phoenix's litter is doing very well growing like crazy we just posted new pictures on the puppy page. They are a week old and huge babies. Cooper's Belgian Malinois puppies are doing well too, just now getting their eyes open at 2 weeks. They will really start to move around and become more active in the upcoming week. Nissa our other German Shepherd is due the 26th, so it is about to get crazy busy. The good news is both Tory and Mercy are now in heat, so more German Shepherd puppies to come. Tory is a Guinevere and Brom daughter and will be bred back to Thorn. Mercy is a Phoenix and Thorn daughter and will be bred to Blitz. These puppies will be due around Mid-April and ready to go home around mid -June. Training is coming along well, Thorn is working hard for his upcoming PSA 1, that is a tough title, but I think he will do well. Brian hopes to have Cooper ready for that title as well. The trial is in May, so we don't have a lot of time left. The weather really needs to give us a break. Our funny story for the week is: Did you know that oranges look just like balls and they come in this really handy bag to carry them outside with. Pandy and of course Pain ( I see a pattern here) took the Oranges off the kitchen counter and had the entire bag out in the front yard. I am so glad nobody that knows me drove by as I was chasing two Belgian Malinois around in the front yard trying to take the oranges away. I couldn't hold them all, so I have what is left of the bag in my hand, I take the orange, put it in the bag and Pandy grabs the bag. I get the bag away and out falls an orange, she grabs it and runs, I am trying to get the oranges away from Pain who is carrying two of them and I get one and she runs and she is FAST. I couldn't catch her. I finally gave up after my somewhat hilarious workout and sat on the porch, they both look at me, like come on, you are giving up that quickly. Ok, we will bring the oranges to you, I know you are going to throw them for us. So, that is exactly what I did, we played ball with what was left of the oranges and then, I went to the store, yes to bought more oranges. Which went into the cabinet, not on the counter. Until next week, have fun with your furry children! February 1,, 2012 Our life of living with Many German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois has been very busy over the last month, we have to do better with what is suppose to be a weekly update. Cooper our Belgian Malinois had her puppies on Tuesday the 31st of January, she had nine beautiful little pups all of which are healthy and strong, they are very richly pigmented with rich mahogany colors. She had 6 females and 3 males. There are new pictures on the available puppy page. We have two litters of German Shepherd puppies due in Feb. Phoenix has been bred to Thorn and Nissa has been bred to Thorn as well, Phoenix's litter is due around the 4th of Feb. and Nissa is due around the 26th. This is the 4th breeding of both litters and the previous litters turned out very nice. There are pictures of the previous litters on the upcoming litters page. Our training has been somewhat hampered due to the rain, but the dogs in training are coming along nicely. We are working with several dogs for PSA titles in the spring. Pictures will be posted later this week or on next weeks update.
December 29, 2011 Well this is a little better only 9 days this time. Our life of living with German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois is very busy to say the least.
Our funny story for this week is
about our new German shepherd puppy Saphira, she has discovered that she
loves peanut butter, so while I was cooking Christmas dinner she stole
the jar of peanut butter from the counter, I hear this commotion in the
living room, something banging against the wall. I go to see what
was making all of the racket. Well, Saphira has the peanut butter
jar stuck on her head. Too bad my camera was not charged and my phone
was downstairs, it was the funniest thing I have seen lately. Then
of course there is Pandy, our new Belgian
We did an ultrasound on Cooper this week, she is confirmed pregnant, so we will be having a litter of Belgian Malinois puppies in Feb. She is due around the 3rd. From the Chattanooga times free press:
Over the last decade, the Malinois has surpassed the
German shepherd as top dog for law enforcement,
according to Meeks.
"Malinois have fewer health conditions and they are somewhat smaller," he said. "They have got great noses."
We also did an ultrasound on Phoenix and she is also confirmed pregnant, so yes another litter of German Shepherd puppies as well, She is due around the 6th of Feb. I am going to have a fun weekend in Feb. Nissa has been bred to Thorn and she should be due around the 26th of Feb. We will confirm her pregnancy in a couple of weeks. We will resume training this weekend, so updates will be coming on that next week and new pictures will posted to our club Facebook page as well, Camelot K9. Don't forget to check out the webcam to see Guinevere's puppies they are 3 weeks old now and doing great, very cute pups and doing amazing things. I have been amazed at the early milestones they have reached, the cross between German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois has produced some amazing pups.
December 20, 2011 Again, this should say the month in the life of living with German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois, It stays pretty busy here. So many things have happened, I was interviewed my WRCB Channel 3, they were needing someone to explain how cadaver dogs work. Here is the interview. I recorded it from my tv, so you can here my dogs in the background.
We currently have two litters of German Shepherd puppies that will be born in January and February. We also have a litter of Belgian Malinois puppies that are due to be born the early part of February. Our new Belgian Malinois Pandora arrived this past week from Florida, she is a nice female, bred from the same working lines that are in Pain's pedigree. She will hopefully be a future competitor and breeding female. She is Brian's new prodigy. watch out Cooper, you have some competition. Our new little German Shepherd puppy Saphira is doing really well, she is a Bella and Blitz daughter and has a ton of drive, pictures are coming soon. We are doing as much training right now as the weather will allow, I am really sick of the rain!! German Shepherds really love playing in the rain and mud. Cleaning a lot right now. Guin's little shepnois puppies are doing great growing like weeds and already eating hard food. The shepnois is a cross between a German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois. You get the high drive of the Belgian Malinois and the calm, level headedness of the German Shepherd. We have high hopes for this litter. November 30, 2011, Well this should say the month in the life of living with German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois, we are little behind on our weekly update, it has been a crazy month. I am only going to post one funny story that really stands out in my mind, but there are several that I will post later. This would be fun with Marshmallows. Our dog training club, Camelot K9, has been meeting on Friday evening up until recently, well as you know the weather has been getting colder and we built a fire, of course roasted marshmallows came into the picture. So, I put the marshmallows away, well on the counter, first mistake, second mistake was letting the dogs into the kitchen, Morgan gets on the counter, steels the marshmallows, but is of course nice enough to share. I walk into the living room to a house full of German Shepherds munching on marshmallows, and I say munching literally, because they were having a devil of time getting the marshmallows out of their teeth, you can just see them, chewing and chewing and chewing of course Phoenix's eyes are rolled back in her head, because that is what she does when she is in heaven. At that point, I just stood there and let them finish the bag. It was too funny to take them away. Bella's and Felony's puppies have gone to their new homes. They have some really cute names and are all doing well, Jax is in Cookeville, Tennessee, Zeka is in Stone Mountain, Georgia, Porsche is in Hixson, Tennessee, Cody is in Newport Tennessee, Alcina is in Ringgold Georgia, Marcy is in Sparta, Tennessee, Zues is in Trussville, Alabama, Eva is in Alpheretta, Georgia, Mojo is in Madisonville, Tennessee. Cooper has been bred to Steel, their puppies are due around the 29th of January, yea, more Belgian Malinois puppies, so much fun to raise, very, very busy. but so smart and playful. This is Cooper and Steel's third litter and they are producing some amazing pups. Brian is getting a new Malinois puppy for Christmas, shh nobody tell him. Ha, Ha, no he knows. She is a nice pup and will be here in a couple of weeks. Her name is going to be Pandora to go along with Prada and Pain, the three P's. Guin's litter is due the 8th of December, so it is going to be getting very busy here, she is bred to Merlin our KNVP stud from Holland. This is a cross litter, that we have had a lot of request for. These pups should be phenomenal! The temperament of the German Shepherd and the drive of the Belgian Malinois.

These pups should be phenomenal! The temperament of the German Shepherd and the drive of the Belgian Malinois. Oct 30, 2011 Well, this week was the typical week in the life of living with German Shepherds and Malinois, fun filled, well, interesting would be a better word. I guess the funny story of the week, is not really that funny, but a new chapter in puppy proofing your home. Guinevere who has always been able to get into anything has learned to open the door to the trash. Now, I know to put the trash outside when Guin is in the kitchen, however, I was not aware that Laika, Bella and Pain (of course Pain) had apparently watched Guin do this little feat, because they all have gotten in the trash this week, each at different times. So, we now have childproof locks on our cabinet that contains the garbage can. Apparently when Guin couldn't get that open, she decided that we must have moved the garbage can and I come in the kitchen to find every cabinet door that she could reach standing wide open. You have got to love the minds of these dogs. We still have our German Shepherd puppies here, they will be ready to go to their new homes next week and Felony's will be ready to go the following week. We will be doing the temperament testing on Bella's litter this Sunday, very excited to see how the testing goes, since this is both Blitz and Bella's first litter and our first Great Grandchildren. We will be keeping one of the female puppies for possible future breeding. We think we will be calling her Lady Saphira, to go along with Brom. Both names were taken from the movie Eragon, to go along with the whole Camelot theme, of course. We will soon be having another litter of Belgian Malinois puppies we are just waiting for Cooper to come back in heat and she will be bred to Steel, this will be the third litter between those two dogs, there are pictures of the previous Malinois puppies and information on the upcoming litters page. We currently have one German Shepherd puppy available from Bella's litter, We don't know which female will be available yet, but it will be a dark sable or a dark bi-color, that is going to look a lot like Morgan. She will have a little more tan on her than Morgan does, but she is going to be very dark. We will know more after the temperament testing is done. We are currently accepting deposits on our upcoming litters of German Shepherd puppies and Belgian Malinois puppies. We have two young adults available, one solid black German Shepherds named Mattie and a Dutch Shepherd named Trixie, there is more information on these two dogs on the Available Adults page. I will be posting more video of Mattie later today. We are still working on our German Shepherd live puppy cams and for those of you having trouble seeing them. Felony's camera is working great, but we are having trouble with Bella's, we hope to have that problem solved today. Protection Training has gone very well, this week we have been trying to focus on some of our younger dogs. Addison is doing very well and coming along quickly, I just posted new pictures of her working on the Ladies page. Also, Jada is doing great and progressing very quickly, now to get to work on their obedience, (cringe) not the most fun thing, but a must do, both for control and competition. Mercy who is a Phoenix and Thorn daugther is doing great as well, we have new pictures of her coming. I just realized, that I don't even have her on my Ladies page, poor Mercy, oops. She is such a good girl and the spitting image of her mother. We will be getting pics of her this week and posting those. Of course this is the week everyone has been waiting for, the German shepherd puppies go home starting on Tuesday. This will be a busy and fun week for everyone. Pictures and info on the puppies in their new home will be up by next weekend and we will be doing Felony's puppies temperament testing next weekend as well. Lot's to do and a busy week. Watch for next weeks update. Oct 17, 2011 A week in the life of our Camelot German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois. Where do we begin? Well I guess we will start with last week's funny story. Our Belgian Malinois puppy Pain is extremely smart and this is why I always warn people that crate training is a must! Of course it would help if I practiced what I preach. Pain is a 7 month old Belgian Malinois female. She has learned that the office chair in the kitchen moves and that if she uses her front feet she can push it. Early Tuesday morning, I had taken the paper towels away from her and put them on top of the refrigerator, thinking that would be out of her reach. NOT. I go downstairs to take a shower, as I am in the shower, I hear the chair rolling across the floor, I look up at the ceiling thinking, no! Yes, she had rolled the chair across the floor and climbed up onto the counter and got the roll of paper towels off the fridge and was in the front yard making snow!!! You have to love German Shepherds and Malinois to live with them, they will definitely make your life more interesting. Of course we are not the typical household, so our life is a little more interesting, we have 14 German Shepherds and 4 Belgian Malinois, all of which live in our home. We are one big happy family. Our obedience and protection training is going very well, Our German Shepherd studs are currently competing in PSA. Brom is working toward his first two titles with PSA and Thorn is working toward his PSA1, he earned his PDC in July of 2011. Blitz is also working toward his PDC. Jada (Camelot's Emerald Lady) is working on her first title with Schutzhund, her BH, we hope to earn it in the spring. She is doing really well and we think she will go far in this new venue. Cooper is working on both her next level of PSA titles as well as her first Schutzhund title. We have several of our young German Shepherd girls, that are working toward titles as well, Addison, Laika, and Mercy. We are still in the developmental stages of both obedience and protection training with several of our young dogs, German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois alike. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be putting up new pictures of the dogs in training, with updates on what they are working on. We currently have two litters of German Shepherd puppies on the ground, Bella and Blitz have a litter and Felony and Thorn, they are beautiful puppies, you can see them on the available German Shepherd puppies page. We have several litters of German Shepherds puppies upcoming and another litter of Belgian Malinois puppies will be bred as soon as Cooper comes in heat. We will be posting more information on these upcoming litters soon. You can find information on the upcoming litters page. That is all for this week. Watch for next weeks update!
